Shaikh Burhanuddin Post Graduate College is one of the oldest and most renowned colleges in Old Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was established in 1965 by Neda-e-Islam, a non-political Islamic organization, to commemorate the name of Imaamut Tareeqat Allama Shaykh Sayyid Muhammad Burhanuddin Uwaysi (Rad.), a great reformer and spiritual leader who passed away in 1964. The college is affiliated with the National University and offers courses in science, arts and business studies at the higher secondary and undergraduate levels.

History and Vision
The college was initially located at 50, Narinda, Dhaka, where Imaamut Tareeqat (Rad.) had established and run 20 other educational institutions during his lifetime. In 1968, the college was shifted to 62, Nazimuddin Road, Dhaka, which was formerly the Old Radio Broadcasting Center. The college has a spacious campus with modern facilities and a rich library. The college aims to provide quality education in a non-political and Islamic environment, as envisioned by its founder organization Neda-e-Islam. The college motto is “Allah Jnana Briddhi Kor”, which means “May Allah increase knowledge”.
Departments and Programs
The college has six departments in the science faculty, six departments in the arts faculty and one department in the business studies faculty. The college offers Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) programs in science, arts and business studies disciplines. The college also offers four-year Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) programs in Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), Environmental Science and Psychology, and three-year Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) programs in Anthropology, English, Bangla, Economics, Social Work and Political Science. The college follows the curriculum and syllabus of the National University.
Admission and Fees
The admission process for HSC programs is conducted online through the official website of the college (www.sbpgc.edu.bd). The admission circular is usually published in July every year. The admission test is held in August and the classes start in September. The admission fee for HSC programs is 10,000 BDT and the monthly tuition fee is 1,000 BDT.
The admission process for B.Sc. and B.A. programs is also conducted online through the official website of the National University (www.nu.ac.bd). The admission circular is usually published in October every year. The admission test is held in November and the classes start in January. The admission fee for B.Sc. programs is 15,000 BDT and the monthly tuition fee is 1,500 BDT. The admission fee for B.A. programs is 12,000 BDT and the monthly tuition fee is 1,200 BDT.
Extra-curricular Activities
The college encourages its students to participate in various extra-curricular activities to enhance their skills and personality. The college has a cultural club, an IT club, a debating club and a sports club that organize various events throughout the year. The college also arranges study tours, annual sports, cultural programs and seminars for its students. The college celebrates national and religious festivals with enthusiasm and respect.
