Dhaka City College, also known as DCC, is one of the oldest and most prestigious private colleges in Bangladesh. It was established in 1957, during the Pakistani ruling period, with the patronage of local educators and social workers. It is located at Road 2, Dhanmondi, Dhaka. It offers Honors and Masters degree programs as well as higher secondary education (HSC). The college is affiliated with the National University of Bangladesh.
History and Background
The college was initially known as Dhaka Night College, as it provided evening classes for working students at the West End High School and afterwards at Dhaka College. In 1970, the college moved to its own premises in Road 2 of the Dhanmondi residential area. The college was renamed as Dhaka City College to reflect its expanded scope and vision.
Some of the prominent figures who contributed to the establishment and development of the college include Khan Bahadur Abdur Rahman and Ataur Rahman Khan, Khaney Alom Khan, former divisional commissioner of Dhaka Division, and Syed Modasser Ali.
