Overview:

Comilla Government College (Bengali: কুমিল্লা সরকারি কলেজ) is a college in Comilla, Bangladesh. It is one of the oldest and renowned colleges in Comilla as well as in Chittagong division. The college is located on 3 acres of land including its intermediate and honors section.

History

Comilla Govt. College was established in 1968 as a private college named Comilla College by some eminent personalities of the region, such as Advocate Abul Khayer, Advocate Sajedul Haque, and industrialist Mohammad Nurul Haque. The college was located in the Police Line area of Comilla city. It started with only 300 students and 15 teachers.

In 1979, the college was nationalized by the government and renamed as Comilla Govt. College. Since then, the college has expanded its infrastructure, facilities, and academic programs. It has also produced many distinguished alumni who have contributed to various fields of society.

Campus

Comilla Govt. College is situated on 2.6985 acres of land, which includes its intermediate and honors sections. The college has a three-storied academic building, a library, a computer lab, a science lab, an auditorium, a mosque, a cafeteria, and a playground. The college also has a hostel for male students and a dormitory for female students.

The college campus is well-maintained and decorated with trees, flowers, and sculptures. The college also organizes various events and activities throughout the year, such as sports, cultural programs, debates, seminars, workshops, etc.

Comilla Govt. College offers intermediate courses in science, humanities, and business studies under the Comilla Education Board. The college also offers honors and masters courses in 17 subjects under the National University. The subjects are:
